Marion tennis coaches Jamie and Joe White thought that they'd have a dramatically improved team for 2024, but two weeks into the season, it would be hard to argue anything else. In their past two conference matches, Marion's girls beat Nettleton in five of six matches, while also taking sets off of Greene County Tech's state champion girls team. Against Nettleton, Marion got wins from Aubrie Weaver, Jaclyn Burch, Alayla Peoples, Kaden Foret, Chloe Griggs, Rashi Patel, and Rachel Coe. On the same afternoon, Marion's boys team topped Greene County Tech in all three matches, including seniors Eli White and Aldo Sotelo winning their doubles and singles matches. Marion stayed hot on Monday evening against Batesville, as the girls program swept the Pioneers in singles and doubles. White and Sotelo teamed up to top Batesville in doubles, while White also won his singles match. White's victory was his first in three tries against Batesville's top boys player.
