MARION TRACK TAKES TWO GOLD MEDALS
There are still no signs of Marion's record-setting boys track program slowing down.
Competing in the state indoor track championships in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas over the weekend, Marion earned two state championships.
Two-time all-state performer and Arkansas signee Julian Carter, II won the Class 5A boys 800 meters with a state-best time of 1:53.10, edging Russellville's River Hardman by more than two seconds.
Carter joined Arviance Leflore, Chris Hardin, and Jameon Williams on Marion's boys 4X400-meter relay team, which also won the gold medal in Fayetteville.
The Marion relay team finished first with a mark of 3:25.50, comfortably topping second-place Hot Springs Lakeside, which recorded a mark of 3:28.02.
Leflore finished fifth in the state in the 400-meter dash, logging a time of 51.21, while Hardin ran the 1600-meter run in 4:59.34, good for 13th in the state.
Senior Martaveon Banks was ninth in the boys long jump with a distance of 10-10.00, and Leflore finished ninth in the boys triple jump with a distance of 41-08.00.
