CARTER EARNS ALL-STATE HONORS

Marion senior Jack Carter worked hard for four years to become the best golfer that he possibly could. Carter qualified for the state tournament in his first three years as a varsity golfer. In 2023, he saved his best for last. Carter carded a 72 at Monday's Class 5A state golf tournament in Van Buren, a figure that tied him for seventh overall in the state, helping him earn all-state honors for the first time in his decorated career. The senior is the first all-state boys golfer at Marion since Cameron Kohl and Cain Kaiser earned top honors in 2015, and he's just the fourth Marion boys all-state golfer since 2008. Carter qualified for the state tournament as a duo his first three varsity seasons before punching his ticket this year when he shot an 82 at the 5A East conference tournament in Marion.
