FOUR TRACK ATHLETES SET SCHOOL RECORDS

Monday marked Marion's opportunity to run at the junior high district track meet, and the Patriots did not disappoint. In particular, four students set new school records, while several others enjoyed standout individual performances. Reese Goodwin set an overall Marion track record with an 800-meter time of 2:42.65. Goodwin's time is the fastest 800 mark by a Marion girl, whether it be junior high or high school. Mya Harris set a pole vault record by vaulting 7 feet, 2 inches. C'Anna Vornes established the school shot put record with a throw of 32 feet, 10 inches. Rukeim Bohanon set the Marion junior high boys triple jump record of 39 feet, 3.5 inches. Those individual records helped the Marion girls take second overall in the meet, while the boys finished fourth. The school records were not the only standout performances though. Joselyn Mitchell earned gold medals in the 400-meter dash, the girls 4x1m relay, and the girls 4x8m relay. Morgan Pounds (400m dash) and Kyndal Aldreidge (200m dash) finished second in their respective events. Adrianna Jackson and Vornes took third place in the 100m dash and shot put, respectively, and Harris finished third in the pole vault. On the boys side, Chris Hardin finished first in the 400m dash and the boys 4x4m relay. Bohanon, Kayden Harris, and Ryan Blackwell earned second-place finishes in the triple jump, 400m dash, and discus, respectively. Brian Benford stayed busy at the conference meet, finishing third in the 200m dash, the boys 4x2m relay, and the boys 4x8m relay.
