Five Marion volleyball players earned postseason awards for their strong play during the Patriots' 19-11 season which featured a conference runner-up finish, and an appearance in the state quarterfinals. Senior Kiah Rucker and freshman Kennedy Bullins earned all-state honors for their strong campaigns, while senior Meredith Williams and sophomore Maggie Miller bagged all-conference nods. Senior Madison Allison landed on the AVCA Best and Brightest third team, meaning she recorded a 3.5 unweighted GPA or a 4.0 weighted GPA or better. Rucker capped her brilliant Marion volleyball career by pacing the 2022 Pats in kills with 323. Rucker registered 497 kills in her career, averaging better than two per set. In addition to her all-state nod, Rucker earned all-conference honors for a second consecutive season, while also landing on the AVCA All-Region roster. The senior was also the top selection for the AHSCA All-Star game, and Rucker remains in contention for AVCA All-America honors, which will be announced sometime in November. Bullins produced one of the better freshman seasons of any Marion volleyballer in school history this fall. Bullins' 236 kills ranked second on the team chart, while she finished third in digs (296) and aces (28). The All-5A East performer was also second with 43 blocks. Miller's second varsity season doubled as her breakout campaign, pacing the Pats with 826 assists and 44 aces, while the sophomore ranked second with 299 digs. The versatile Miller also recorded 38 kills. In addition to her all-conference nod, Miller earned an all-state honorable mention selection, while she also landed on the Class 5A all-state tournament team. Williams earned a spot in the starting lineup as a senior, and she recorded 121 kills, 70 digs, 29 blocks, 22 aces, and 21 digs to earn an all-league nod. Allison finished third with 140 kills, while also registering 68 digs, 18 blocks, and nine assists in her senior season.
