Marion baseball fans who have been waiting for the 2022 ring ceremony celebrating the Class 5A state baseball champions will not have to wait much longer. The Marion School District announced on Monday that coaches and players from the 2022 Patriots will receive their state championship rings during a ceremony at Premier Bank Stadium during Marion's first home playoff football game on November 11 or November 18. The final date will be set this weekend upon the conclusion of the football regular-season schedule. The ring ceremony will take place at halftime of the football game. The 2022 Marion Patriots finished 29-5 overall, sharing the 5A East championship with Jonesboro, the first regular-season league title in school history. As the No. 1 playoff seed in the state tournament in Hot Springs, Marion vanquished White Hall (10-0) in the opening round, Benton (4-0) in the quarterfinals, and Sheridan in the semifinals (7-0), to advance to just the second state final in school history. Once there, Marion routed defending state champion Van Buren (11-6) in Benton to claim the crown.
