WILSON SIGNS WITH BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE
Kora Wilson often dazzled the opposition during her Marion volleyball career.
As a result, that career will continue for another four years at Blue Mountain College.
Marion's defensive ace likely plays a number of positions once she arrives on campus. The Toppers last year posted a 30-9 record and won the Southern States Athletic Conference title.
“I'm just overjoyed and so grateful to be able to continue to play volleyball,” said Wilson. “I'm so thankful to my family and my coaches for believing in me and helping me achieve this.”
Wilson caps a stellar athletic career at Marion, earning all-state honors in volleyball, tennis, and soccer. She earned all-conference honors all three years of her varsity volleyball career and landed on the all-state team following her junior and senior seasons. Wilson recorded 750 digs, 315 kills, 111 assists, and 107 aces in her career for teams that reached the state tournament three times, including a pair of runs to the state quarterfinals, and the 2021 semifinals. Marion ran the table for the 2021 5A East conference championship.
“She's just a tremendous volleyball player. Her volleyball knowledge and court savvy are off the charts,” said Marion head volleyball coach Lisa Beasley. “It's crazy some of the things that she does on the court, and the plays she makes that you wouldn't even think were possible. She's able to read hitters and put herself in a position to make plays. We asked a lot of her as coaches because we needed her to play all the way around, and she did great. I just couldn't be more proud of her because she earned this opportunity.”
Wilson signed with Blue Mountain as a defensive specialist and libero, but “no spots are guaranteed,” said Wilson. “I'll have to work for a spot, but I'm excited about it.”
“Having a great back-row passer is a must for us, and she can do that,” said Blue Mountain head volleyball coach Reid Gann. “She has that relentless mindset on the back row that you love to see. I think she'll have an instant impact for us.”
Blue Mountain is in its third season of existence, with 2021 the first winning season and first conference title for the Toppers.
