Marion hoops teams finish 2-1 at Hot Springs tournament

MARION HOOPS TEAMS FINISH 2-1 AT HOT SPRINGS TOURNAMENT

The Marion High School girls and boys teams finished 2-1 over the weekend at the Hot Springs Trojan Invitational Tournament. The Marion Lady Patriots improved to 6-3 this season after victories over Wynne (61-28), and Hot Springs (66-19), before the Lady Pats lost to Class 4A juggernaut Farmington in the final. The Marion boys are now 6-2 after beating Joe T. Robinson (77-47), and Watson Chapel (61-46), prior to losing a tight overtime decision to Class 6A Conway (63-60) on Saturday. Top performers for Marion's girls against Wynne were Daedrianna Cail and Alyse Holliman, who each hit for 12 points, Taylor Little (11 points), and Kierra Neal (eight points). Cail led all scorers against Hot Springs with 16 points, while Neal added 14, and Jessica Robins and Holliman each hit for eight. Robins paced Marion with 12 points against Farmington. Cail added 10 and Holliman hit for nine. Marion's boys juked Joe T. Robinson behind Ryan Forrest's 22 points, 20 from Jayden Forrest, and eight from Jalen White. Jayden Forrest went for a team-high 15 points against Watson Chapel, while Ryan Forrest checked in with 13 points, and Donnie Cheers poured in 11 points. Conway evaded Marion despite 21 points from Ryan Forrest, 20 from Jayden Forrest, and 17 from Cheers. Marion's girls host Class 6A Conway, while Marion's boys are back in action December 28 at the Route 13 Christmas Tournament in Carbondale, Illinois.
