MARION GIRLS GOLF TEAM VICTORIOUS AT HARDING
The Marion golf teams performed well Thursday afternoon in a tournament in Searcy at Harding Academy.
The Marion girls team shot 148 to win the tournament by 10 strokes over the host, and finished 12 strokes better than Beebe Beebe.
For Marion, senior Morgan Dodd and junior Mady Williams each carded a 49 to tie for second place. Senior Makenzi Chrestman shot a 50, Cadence Sudbury carded a 54 and Chloe Brown recorded a 59. Harding Academy's McKinlee Bailey paced the girls with a 44.
The Marion boys finished second behind defending state champion Harding Academy, which returns its key contributors from a year ago. The Patriots shot 124 scoring three and 167 scoring four.
Marion freshman Payne Bius shot a 39 to finish second in the tournament behind Harding's Jack-Henry Wise (34.) Allan Childers posted a 43, while Blake Vaughn and Jack Carter each logged a 43. Braden Miller finished with a 49.
Marion's first home golf match this fall is Tuesday against Armorel at Meadowbrook Country Club in West Memphis.
