WHITE TOPS BLUE IN MARION SPRING GAME

The Marion football team wrapped up a successful 2025 spring camp with an entertaining spring game on Friday evening. In the end, Marion white scored the game's first 14 points and held off a late Marion Navy rally for a 14-7 victory that concludes the Patriots' spring schedule and kicks off the team's summer slate. “I loved the crowd we had out tonight. I thought they were into the game and seemed to have a good time,” said Coach Lance Clark. “Our kids loved having a chance to go out and compete. I saw a lot of good things on both sides. We played a lot of kids, and they produced when we called on them, that's what we've been teaching and hoping for this off-season, and that's what we saw tonight.” The white team got a first-quarter interception return for a touchdown from sophomore-to-be Cole Clay, and a second-quarter TD run from Rico Ward to account for the scoring. Unofficially, Ward eclipsed 100 yards rushing in the spring game. Marion Navy mounted a couple of successful drives, but the white defense made plays to prevent further progress, highlighted by Clay's interception return on third down. Marion has a full June schedule before the annual AAA-mandated dead period, the last week of June and the first week of July. The Patriots are at home for their first two contest of the 2025 season. Marion hosts Valley View in the teams' annual benefit scrimmage on Friday, August 22, and the Pats officially open their fall slate on Friday, August 29, with a home date with old rival Wynne. Marion plays its first road game on Friday, September 5, with a contest at Harding Academy before welcoming Class 7A power Conway to Southern Bancorp Stadium on Friday, September 12. Following the team's annual open date on Friday, September 19, Marion opens 6A East play on September 26 with a game at Sylvan Hills before returning home on October 3, when El Dorado comes to town. The Pats make the short road trip to West Memphis on October 10 before hosting Jonesboro on October 17 for Homecoming. October 24 calls for a road trip to Sheridan before a Halloween night home date with Little Rock Catholic, which is also Senior Night. Marion wraps its 2025 regular season with a trip to Benton.
