SEVEN MARION BASEBALL PLAYERS EARN POSTSEASON AWARDS
After posting a 19-13 final overall record, including the 25th state tournament berth in program history, and the third appearance in the state finals, seven Marion baseball players earned postseason honors for their 2025 seasons.
Senior Cohen “Jimmy” Bumbaugh and sophomore Max Molloy earned all-state and all-conference honors, while seniors Carson Catt and Hudson “Turkey” McKewen, juniors Coleman Barnett and Brody Byrd, and sophomore Myles Holt landed on the All-5A East conference list.
Bumbaugh caps his prolific Marion career with three all-conference nods and a pair of all-state selections. The Itawamba Community College signee tossed eight no-hitters in his varsity career on the mound. In 2025, Bumbaugh led Patriot pitchers by throwing 51 innings, allowing just 20 earned runs on 16 hits and 94 strikeouts. Bumbaugh was the winning pitcher in Marion's opening-round state tournament victory over Van Buren, and he started the Class 5A state final against Valley View in Conway, but did not receive a decision. Bumbaugh had his best season at the plate as a senior, as well, batting .351 with a .490 on-base percentage with 27 hits, five doubles, two triples, two home runs, 23 RBI, and 17 runs scored.
Molloy earned all-conference honors for the second season in a row, while nabbing his first all-state selection after locking down the team's starting centerfield spot early in the spring. Molloy batted .398 in 2025 with a .482 OBP, leading the team with 39 hits, including 14 doubles, a triple, and three home runs. He drove in 19 runs from the lead-off slot while also scoring a team-high 29 runs. The right-hander worked 20.2 innings on the mound, locking down three saves and recording a 3.04 ERA with 27 strikeouts. He earned the save in Marion's state quarterfinal victory over Van Buren.
Catt finishes his Marion baseball career as a four-year letterman with three all-conference selections. The shortstop batted .302 this spring with a .396 OBP on 29 hits with seven doubles and two triples with 17 RBI and 15 runs. He also recorded a .959 fielding percentage in 2025, making just three errors playing up the middle.
McKewen locked down a starting role in left field and produced a .962 fielding percentage on just one error. He also batted .311 with a .354 OBP this season, finishing with 28 hits, including six doubles, two triples, 17 RBI, and 17 runs scored.
Barnett emerged as Marion's No. 2 starter in league series midway through the spring, and he wound up second on the staff in innings pitched (43) and strikeouts (42), while he crafted a staff-best 1.96 ERA. At the dish, Barnett hit .289 with a .396 OBP on 22 hits, including 10 doubles, 17 runs scored, and 14 RBI.
Byrd batted .322 in 2025 with a .394 OBP while hitting in the heart of Marion's order. The first baseman/right-fielder stroked nine doubles, four triples, and a home run this season, and he scored 16 times and drove in 16 runs.
Holt started most games at shortstop and second base this spring, recording a .932 fielding percentage, and his offensive numbers spiked in 2025, as he hit .347 with a .440 OBP with five doubles. He scored 18 runs and batted in 13 runs.
