MHS track wraps 2025 season

MHS TRACK WRAPS 2025 SEASON

The postseason proved to be the perfect stage for the 2025 Marion track teams. At the conference track meet in Jonesboro, Marion's boys track team finished second overall while Marion's girls ranked fourth, both teams turning in several stellar individual performances. At the state track meet, Marion's boys finished sixth overall, with Chris Hardin taking first place in the 400-meter dash, and missing another gold in the 800-meter dash by 1/100 of a second. At the conference meet, Marion's boys and girls each produced school records against the top competition. Marion's boys 4X2 team, consisting of Kendrick Cauley, Kajeris Hill, Dontavius White, and Rico Ward, broke through with a time of 1:29.7. The Patriot boys 4X8 team took home the gold medal, while the 4X1 and 4X4 teams ranked second. The girls 4X2 and 4X4 teams also established Marion school records. The 4X2 team, made up of Rayah Hinton, Shayla Smith, Summer Morgan, and Kyndall Aldridge, clocked a time of 1:49.33, while the 4X4 team of Morgan, Aniyah Broyles, Morgan Pounds, and Joslynn Mitchell ran it in 4:13.81. The Patriot ladies 4X1, 4X2, and 4X4 teams all finished second in the conference meet, while the girls 4X8 team took third. Mitchell's success was not limited to team competition in Jonesboro, as she finished first in the 400-meter dash, and third in the 200 meters. Broyles finished second in the 800 meters, while Morgan earned the silver in the high jump, and A'laya Smith finished third in the 100 meters. Ward won the 100-meter dash and the 200 meters at the conference meet, while Hardin claimed gold in the 400 and 800 meters. Jose Ramirez was second in the 3200 meters, while Elijah Doss was second in the shot put, and Zimran Phelix was third in the long jump. In addition to Hardin's big day at the state track meet, Broyles broke the school record in the 800 meters, running 2:29.42, and Ward finished fourth in the 100 meters. The boys 4X4 finished second overall in the state, while the 4X8 team was fourth.
