Marion track teams show well at Valley View

MARION TRACK TEAMS SHOW WELL AT VALLEY VIEW

The Marion boys and girls track teams competed last week at the annual Nestle Blazer Invitational in Jonesboro, and the Patriot runners produced some standout times. The MHS girls finished first in their respective meets, while the boys claimed third. Sophomore Alayah Smith finished first in the girls 100-meter dash, while Shayla Smith wound up third in the same sprint. Summer Morgan won the gold medal in the 200-meter dash, followed by Rayah Hinton, who earned the silver. Joslynn Mitchell won the 400-meter dash, while Morgan Pounds claimed the first-place spot in the 800 meters. Dionsay Watkins had a productive meet, finishing second in the 1600 meters and third in the 800-meter race. The MHS girls 4X2 and 4X8 teams took home the gold, while the 4X1 team finished second. On the boys side, Chris Hardin won the 400-meter dash, and his time in that sprint is the current fastest time in the state. Kayden Harris claimed the boys 800-meter dash. Rico Ward finished third in the boys 100 meters, while Jude Johnson ranked second in the 1600 meters, and Johnson took the bronze in the 3200 meters. Elijah Doss finished third in the shot put The boys 4X2, 4X4, and 4X8 teams all claimed first-place finishes, while the boys 4X1 finished second. Marion hosts the annual Patriot Relays inside Southern Bancorp Stadium on Thursday, April 17.
